EGBA Signs Memorandum of Understanding on Online Advertising & IPR

The European Commission has published a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on advertising and intellectual property (IP) rights which seeks to curb the infringement of IP rights online. The MoU was signed earlier today, at the margins of the Commission’s Blockathon event, by 27 companies and associations in the online advertising community, including the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA). EGBA is proud to be part of this Commission-led industry initiative and has been involved in the discussions on the MoU from the very beginning.

“EGBA supports the protection of intellectual property rights and we are proud to be part of this initiative which aims to ensure that advertising revenue will not inadvertently sustain the infringement of IP rights. Together with operators in the online gambling sector we will share, encourage and educate on the principles of this memorandum and help play a part in EU efforts to crack down on the infringement of intellectual property rights online” – Maarten Haijer, Secretary General, EGBA.

The MoU can be found here.
