Europe’s monthly online gambling news. EGBA demonstrates commitment to GDPR with sectoral code of conduct for data protection Earlier this month, the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) published a Code of Conduct on data protection which establishes dedicated sector-specific rules and best practices to ensure compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 and promotes the highest standards of data protection in the online gambling sector. The Code of Conduct on Data Protection in Online Gambling sets long-term data protection standards for Europe’s online gambling sector and is intended to complement and reinforce the sector’s compliance with the GDPR. The Code is one of Europe’s first ever sector-specific self-regulatory initiatives to support compliance with the GDPR. Europe’s monthly online gambling news. New analysis shows EGBA’s responsible advertising code can reinforce national advertising rules The European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA), was mandated by the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) to conduct a gap analysis exercise, to assess how the new EGBA Code of Conduct on Responsible Advertising for Online Gambling fits in comparison with the applicable regulatory and self-regulatory advertising rules in 15 selected European countries. The EASA analysis found that the measures introduced by EGBA’s Code are broadly consistent and congruent with national requirements on gambling advertising. Europe’s monthly online gambling news EGBA publishes first pan-European code for responsible advertising for online gambling The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has published the first pan-European Code of Conduct for responsible advertising for online gambling. The Code is broad in scope and introduces essential standards for advertising content, across all media platforms, and dedicated measures for social media. Europe’s monthly online gambling news EGBA launches consultation for an online gambling industry Code of Conduct on GDPR The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has launched a consultation on its draft online gambling industry Code of Conduct for compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR). We would like to hear the views of EU-based online gambling companies, gambling regulators, and other interested parties, on the Code. The Code aims to add value to the implementation of the GDPR by providing sector-specific guidance for online gambling companies, through the use of examples and best practices, on how to comply with the GDPR. The Code will apply to EGBA members and is open for adherence by other online gambling companies, provided they adhere to its full content.
